Introducing new TSB members
Approval of the minutes of the 8th February 2005 TSB meeting
Action Items
Reports from other meetings:
Technical Forum 8 March 2005 meeting: The list of new requirements is discussed.
Category Coordinators meeting: the release schedule for 2005 was discussed.
For spring/summer LHC productions will be carried out using previous releases 6.2p02 and 7.0p01. For the productions at the fall of the year the release 7.1 is desirable. It is scheduled for June,30. Release 7.1 is planned to be the last one based on CLHEP 1.9.
The release 7.1 will include
mainly bug fixes. For LHC experiments the essential improvement will be
non-static particle properties, which will allow to provide a possibility to download PDG
particle properties and easier definition of exotic particles. Non-nominal masses of short-lived particles
will be allowed as well.
The geometry group working plan for 2005
was presented. The twisted trapezoid will
be delivered for the 7.1 release.
The useful improvement is planned
in the material category to provide Geant4 predefined materials with properties taken from the NIST database.
This new feature of Geant4 will be discussed at the next Category Coordinators meeting.
The visualization group working plan for 2005 was presented.
Minor changing are planned in the visualization category for the 7.1 release. DAWN is kept under maintenance.
Visualization of boolean volumes is still a problem to be addressed.
The list of contributors to Geant4 has been created and sent to category coordinators.
There are countries in which authors of the code keep the license (Germany, Italy, Japan, ..),
in other countries licenses are delegated to particular institution.
Next step will be to circulate two variants of licenses for voting
to obtain an objective information on acceptability of both licenses.
D.Wright reported, that the release 6.1 is used for the BaBar production and that
the deployment of the release 6.2p02 is delayed, because of the link problem at the
SUN platform connected with CLHEP 1.9. To overcome this, the granular libraries of CLHEP
(1.9.1.2 version) for SUN-CC should be used. There are currently problems in the assembly of the
global CLHEP library on SUN.
New Geant4 members:
Gerard Montarou and Ziad Francis from the university of
Clermont-Ferrand to work on the DNA project - extension of the Low Energy package. Work is started already.
New collaborator Riccardo Capra from Catania will work on polarized Reileght scattering.
Preparation of items for the next Technical Forum (May/June) was discussed.
Some problems for parallel talks at the MC2005 conference do exist. Additional action from
spokesperson is planned.
To be better prepared for coming conferences the publication policy need to be established.
As a first step the list of submissions for the next IEEE/NSS congress need to be discussed at the TSB.
Publications need to be included in the working plans.
The date of the tutorial at CERN is defined. The web page need to be established.
The tutorial at Finland is decided
The next Geant4 tutorial is planed at Bordeaux during the Collaboration workshop.
The website of the workshop (http://geant4.in2p3.fr/2005)
is well advanced. The announcement to French institutes IN2P3 and CEA should be made. CNRS is finalizing
formalities. Some details, as reduced fee, will be fixed in a week time.
After that, the registration page will be linked to the workshop website.
Official invitation letters to foreign institutes and workshop posters are ready to be sent.
Air France is the official career providing reduce prices for the travel Paris - Bordeaux.
Voting procedure will be organized by spokesperson.
Votes will be sent to identified person for a prompt counting.
The transition period starts from the elections of members of future boards.
During this period category coordinator will remain in charge.
The process of the elections should be clear documented in regulations to CA.
Two step procedure: nomination and votes.
TSB will nominate candidates for spokesperson.
The meeting ended at 12:50.
Action Item 33.1: J.P.Wellisch to provide release schedule for the hadronic packages.
Action Item 33.2: Category coordinators to include a publication plan into the working group plans.
Action Item 33.3: J.Apostolakis to organize a meeting between principal authors of general paper to discuss possible next general publication.
Action Item 33.4: J.Apostolakis and M.Asai to contact MC2005 organizing committee to resolve the issues of the program: conflicting talks from Geant4.
Action Item 33.5: Category coordinators to setup a discussion at next TSB meeting on Geant4 talks prepared for IEEE/NSS 2005 before submission.
Action Item 33.6: D.Wright to report on plans for SUN support at SLAC.
Action Item 33.7: Institution representatives to send mail addresses of laboratories to S.Incerti in order to receive official invitation letters and posters for the Workshop in Bordeaux.
